Get to know me
Kate Van Der Linden
Hi, I'm Kate.
I'm married, am a mother to 2 incredible boys, and would love to support you in your journey to parenthood.
My first child was born in the spring of 2020, the height of the first wave of the pandemic and during lockdown. The uncertainty of childbirth on top of the uncertainty of world events was not what I hand in mind for my first birth experience. I know how scary, lonely, and challenging it can be to be a new mom.
When my youngest was still less than a year old, I decided to change her career focus. I has a Bachelor of Science in Environmental and Conservation Science, and has worked in the zoological industry to support endangered species breeding programs for more than 10 years. With young children at home, and my newfound passion for support new parents, I am pursuing a triple stream certification through Doula Canada - as a birth doula, a postpartum doula, and a perinatal educator.
I will always love my first career as a conservation biologist and zookeeper, and I will continue to work in this field as well, but it is time for me to make a change and do something new.
A planned home birth that ended up at the hospital, a planned hospital birth that progressed so fast it happened at home, and struggles with postpartum depression and postpartum anxiety, I have a wide range of lived experiences that I draw on to support my clients. I have seen firsthand the importance of feeling confident and supportive in the journey of starting a family, and I would love to be there to help you as you begin the journey too.
